This past weekend, Bryson, Grandma, Amy and I got to attend the Annual Wahiawa Sakura Matsuri. I've been performing there since I was 13 years old so it's always nice to support the Civic Society ofWahiawa, I mean after all they have been supporting me for 5 years now! Last year I did not get to perform cause I was in Maui. Great to be back home.

Before getting to the event Amy took Grandma, Bryson and I to see the Sakura trees along the roads up to the Wahiawa Water Tower. That was the first time I've ever seen Sakura in person, so I was super excited. Not going to lie, I did steal a small branch to bring home
myself.

After the Sakura Viewing we got to go to Shige's Saimin stand. Saimin a.k.a Hawaii Styled Ramen. A hole in the wall that turned out to have great food with great prices. Amy, Bryson, and I all had the wonton Saimin with the Teriyaki Burgers. It was awesome and I would go back anytime. Well if I'm ever in Wahiawa I would go.

The show was great as always. The Hawaii Somei Daiko is the Best in the Island. The Dancers were excellent as well. The singers too! This year was Carolyn Shimamura's first time performing for the Sakura Matsuri. She sang her Kzoo winning song BE ALIVE by Koyanagi Yuki. Amy and I sang one of my favorite duets: Futari de Kampai! I got to sing one of my original songs: Akai Tsuki (not released)

Thanks to Barbra Sasahara for allowing me to perform every year!

Making Kimono Sleeves 着物袖を作り

As a non-Japanese my body type is built very large. I have Tongan (Polynesian) blood so my shoulder tend to very broad. That is why it is hard to find kimono that fit my body type. Thank god I have grandma by my side. She is very great at sewing, so she knows how to make sleeves longer for me. What she normally does is take the sleeves off the Kimono it's self by removing the thread. She then
adds fabric (in this case - gold material) to the sleeve for length. The then reattaches the sleeve to the Kimono and that normally extends the length. Thank you grandma.
